April 2009

I found an interesting clip created by the multimedia-savvy Greg King via the Rachel’s website. I check back there about once a month to see if the band is ever going to start working on new material, or go on tour again. King used to be a member of the band, and even lived here in Chicago for a while. Somehow this sort of post-classical music lends itself to landscape and transportation; I crave it after such a long winter of sitting still. Cheers.

Rather, several messages. From the restroom at Kuma’s Corner.

Finally! The last level took me two months to beat.

No, not the restaurant. Starbucks with Marge! Picture is from a couple weeks ago.

I will not divulge just how long it took me to get my Black War Bear mount by completing the For The Alliance Achievement. I will post a screenshot, however, so anyone who cares can see how much of a badass I actually am.

And Leah – After killing all 4 Horde bosses, we were tipped off that there was a raid heading in to IF to kill the king. We all hid against the walls, and absolutely massacred them. Enjoy a Youtube clip from that below, as well as some footage of our parade through Dalaran with our new mounts.

Surprise Attack in Iron Forge:

Bear Parade After Winning Our Mounts:

Things have been relatively stressful at work lately, so I am always thankful when I can spend some quiet (and not so quiet) time with family and friends. I met up with Cap and Danny to see Exodus and Kreator at the House of Blues on Friday night. On Saturday I was fortunate enough to be able to spend the morning with my mother, sister, and niece Sophia at the Kohl’s Children Museum in Glenview. Each of the play areas were modeled after real life; it was surprising to see how happy the kids seemed to be participating in the mundane rituals adults have to struggle through during the week. They even had a “library” area, where all the kids sat on computers and ignored the books behind them. I ended up having a wonderful time, however…. obviously. I will never get sick of hanging out with my niece. :)

I’m finally going to see Kreator on Friday with Danny and Captor. Horns up!

One of the best Maiden songs ever written was the soundtrack for my fleeting weekend.

From the coast of gold across the seven seas
I’m travelin’ on far and wide
But now it seems I’m just a stranger to myself
And all the things I sometimes do
It isn’t me but someone else

I close my eyes and think of home
Another city goes by in the night
Ain’t it funny how it is,
You never miss it til its gone away
And my heart is lying there
And will until my dying day

So understand
Don’t waste your time always
Searching for those wasted years
Face up… make your stand
And realise you’re living in the golden years

Too much time on my hands, I got you on my mind
Cant ease this pain so easily
When you cant find the words to say
It’s hard to make it through another day
And it just makes me wanna cry
And throw my hands up to the sky
